The importance of qualified leads for SaaS companies
In the competitive Software as a Service (SaaS) industry, acquiring new leads is pivotal for growth. With numerous companies vying for attention, standing out and engaging potential clients early in their decision-making process is essential.
The Brief
Our client, a SaaS HR platforms, sought to expand its lead base and increase conversions. Operating globally, they aimed to leverage lead generation tools and LinkedIn’s vast professional network to target relevant industries and decision-makers.
Execution
Effective lead generation in the SaaS sector requires a multifaceted approach, combining sophisticated tools with strategic planning. Here’s how we executed our plan:
Website Optimization
Before leveraging external tools, it’s crucial to ensure the company’s website is primed for lead capture. We helped our client craft conversion pages that spotlighted unique value propositions, targeting specific personas with tailored product and service offering. This precision in targeting ensures that visitors are more likely to engage and provide their contact information or book a demo.
01
Segmentation with LinkedIn Sales Navigator
A clear and accurate segmentation of the target group is essential for successful lead generation. We conducted a workshop with our client to define the target audience as precisely as possible, utilizing LinkedIn Sales Navigator. This tool allowed us to filter potential leads based on industry, company size, job role, and other relevant criteria, ensuring that our outreach was directed towards the most relevant prospects.
Once you have the list you should make sure you divide it into 2 groups:
- 20% should be categorized as hot leads, representing prospects with a very high fit for your offer and significant revenue potential. These leads warrant personalized, one-on-one contact with tailored messages.
- The remaining 80% are cold leads, which you won’t be able to contact individually. For this segment, you’ll need to leverage a Lead Generation tool to assist you. In the following paragraphs, we will focus on this aspect.
Choose the right Lead Generation Tool
With the target audience clearly defined, the next step was to select an appropriate lead generation tool. Considering factors like the ability to send paid InMails, attach media files, and automate outreach, we chose a tool that aligned with our strategy of personalized and impactful communication. This tool facilitated targeted outreach campaigns with customizable features to enhance engagement rates.
03
Create the sequence
The success of our strategy hinged on a meticulously planned contact sequence. We designed a series of messages to be sent to our segmented target group:
- Connection Request: A personalized message highlighting a common interest or connection to increase the likelihood of acceptance.
- First Message: Sent after acceptance, introducing our client’s solution and its value proposition without being overly salesy and a clear CTA, such as booking a demo or a consultation call.
- Second Message: A follow-up message providing additional information, perhaps a case study or testimonial,
- Message in case of non-acceptance (paid Inmail) For connections that did not respond to the initial request, a message was crafted to address potential hesitations or to reiterate the value proposition in a new light, often offering a piece of valuable content or insight as an incentive for engagement.
The internal process for onboarding new leads was meticulously planned to ensure a seamless transition from prospect to engaged lead. This included preparing onboarding materials such as brochures, videos, and detailed product information to educate and engage the new leads. Additionally, we also helped to connect the leads to the CRM system for a systematic follow-up.
Start the Automation and Monitor Success
With the sequence established, we initiated the automation process, carefully monitoring the acceptance rate and conversion metrics. The focus was on the number of prospects who agreed to a demo or a direct meeting as a measure of success. Regular adjustments were made based on performance data to refine the messaging and targeting approach.
